01 Our Story

Casa Arroyo sits where the Arroyo Colorado spills into the Lower Laguna Madre — minutes from prime bay fishing, close to the dove and duck fields, and right on the edge of one of the great birding refuges in North America. We grew up fishing and playing here. Now we share it.

Capt. Douglas Dunkin & team.

Capt. Douglas Dunkin and his team of experienced guides have outfitted these waters for over 40 years — for trophy saltwater gamefish, white-winged dove, and duck. Through Dunkin Guide Systems, they secure the best local talent for every trip, whether you want to fly fish, drift the bay, or wade the flats.

Casa Arroyo is a working lodge: guides and guests come and go, the fish-cleaning station stays busy, and the coffee's always on. It's comfortable, it's real, and it's right on the water.

A quaint fishing community across the bay from the north end of South Padre Island, next to the Laguna Atascosa Wildlife Refuge.

From our dock to prime redfish and trout water is a short run. The hunting fields are close by too.

Harlingen Valley International (HRL) is about 40 minutes away, with full services, shopping, and medical care.
